We have been super busy, but I still don’t know why, and my poor garden here at Mi Ranchito has suffered, but the trees are still looking beautiful.
They have been changing the color of their leaves and then finally dropping them.
In the backyard our Japanese maple is a bright amber.
But the one in the front is more of a brownish color.
My favorite tree is also in our front yard. Only half of the leaves have changed their color.
Soon we will have tons of leaves ready to be raked.
My little peach tree is done for the year, but at least we will have many oranges and lemons to enjoy anytime now.
If you celebrate Thanksgiving, have a great one and spend time with your loved ones!♥♥♥♥
Autumn leaves are now putting on their show. It’s time for them to display their golden or amber hues.
This is my favorite tree, and I’m thinking you figured that out since I’ve shown pictures of it in the spring, and it’s a beautiful sight at that time.
Because leaves are so pretty this time of year, I decided to go with leaf place cards for our Thanksgiving dinner.
There are 12 of us at Thanksgiving and a lot of confusion goes on as to where we will sit, so the grandkids usually put the place cards on the table, and sometimes the adults have to rearrange the names.
Last year I used leaves also, but these are so much easier.
I bought a package of artificial leaves. Then I applied glue around the edges, and then dusted with gold glitter.
Make sure to shake and tap the excess glitter off when the glue dries.
Once the leaves are completely dry, you can write the names of your family. This would be a great project for the older kids, but you might have the younger ones write their own names on the leaves to get them involved.
We never have a real fancy table, but adding a special touch is always nice.
The only thing I would change is the kind of pen that I used. I used a gold sharpie, but it really doesn’t show up like I wanted it to.♥♥♥♥
Even though the start of autumn was a whole month ago, we haven’t really experienced anything but great weather. But, last night autumn gave us her grand change-up. Starting with the wind waking up the leaves and then had them working hard to stay on their little branches. Then the rain came and gave them a rough scrubbing. We could hear our wind chimes making their music and that’s what we fell asleep to.
We need the rain desperately in our area after all the heat and dryness we experienced this past summer. Yay, it’s time for hot chocolate and marshmallows.
My ranchito is such a joy to me in all seasons, but autumn is so enjoyable because the weather is so fantastic. If you have ever experienced a summer in the San Joaquin Valley in California , you know why I’m in love with our fall season.
Take some time to enjoy autumn!
