I was so ready to enjoy a few days away but felt anxious about my garden.  Last week we had extreme temperatures, one day  it was 109 and then we had a 106 on another day.   My poor plants looked so stressed out.

Right before we left I deep watered and hoped for the best.  Luckily the weather cooled the day we left and I felt a little better.

I couldn’t ask my kids to come and water, because we were all going to be together.

My sister-in-law who usually takes care of my garden while we’re away, lives across town and it’s hard for her to get a ride to our house, and she doesn’t drive.

We also have squirrels who have been stealing our tomatoes.  One day we had a good sized tomato and then the next day it had disappeared.

But I was surprised to see that mi jardin survived.

I came home to some red ripe tomatoes and a few zucchini.

I felt so relieved!

I quickly  harvested my bounty.

Thank you so much for stopping by.♥♥♥♥

Back in November I talked about my winter garden. Well this is what it looks like today. Pathetic, right? It’s not really my fault.  The day after I planted, I went out to check on it and something had eaten most of my plants.

But I am grateful that I have 1 bib lettuce and 4 cauliflower plants to enjoy, if  that something does not eat those also. Plus my snap peas are growing and it won’t be long before our grandson comes along and plucks them off the plant to snack on. The blossoms are so pretty!

I do have to admit that after seeing my plants had been eaten, I was discouraged.

Country life is hard when dealing with all those critters out there,  but I’ll keep trying and hope for a better summer garden.

The rest of the cauliflower are hoping not to be eaten by something.

But, there is a bright side of things and that happens to be the spring weather we have been experiencing ( it’s actually raining right now, yay).

But yesterday was beautiful and my favorite tree looked gorgeous!

I know that many of you are dealing with harsh weather, and I truly sympathize,  but we Californians will have to suffer the consequences at a later date for all this gorgeous weather.

Yes, it’s almost January 2, and I’m late in wishing a Happy New Year to everyone, but I’ve been sick and haven’t felt like doing much of anything.

But life must continue and I do hope all of you had a great New Year with good health and family.

For 6 days now we have  been eating, tamales, turkey, cookies, candy, monkey bread and my sister-in-law just brought us bunuelos , so guess what? I am really craving vegetables and fresh fruit!  I will start eating some mañana !

Also, one of my resolutions is to straighten up my end table in our bedroom .  Tomorrow  sounds good. This is what it looks like right now.
